Richard Scroll

Richard is the Group Construction Director at Wates, and a trustee of UST.

Richard’s route into the Construction industry began when he undertook a Carpentry and Joinery apprenticeship in 1985 for Taylor Woodrow. In 1989 he joined Wates Construction as a Carpenter, working his way up to managing the carpentry teams which eventually led to a role in site

management. He started as a Section Manager and was then promoted to Site Manager working on numerous projects in Central London within the Commercial, Education and Residential Sectors.

Richard took the role of Project Manager which involved taking responsibility for the overall delivery of the projects he worked on. In 2008 Richard successfully oversaw the construction of the Margaret Thatcher Infirmary for the Royal Chelsea Hospital taking him to the next step and becoming a Project Director, leading the construction of Chelsea Academy project.

In 2010 Richard became Business Unit Director for Wates Southern Construction. He moved to London to do the same role in 2013, before his current role as Group Construction Director where he is focused on leading the operations community in ensuring best in class performance and planning for future.
