Pupils from Cyril Jackson Primary School recently enjoyed an inspiring visit to Hackney Empire, where they experienced the power of live orchestral music as part of the BBC Ten Pieces Schools Concert, performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

This exciting event took pupils on a musical journey through time, introducing them to classical music in a way that was engaging, interactive and accessible. Guided by an expert conductor and presenter, they explored how music can tell stories, express emotion and connect the past with the present.

Throughout the concert, pupils were encouraged to take part in interactive moments and listening challenges, helping to guide the orchestra while developing a deeper understanding of how composers communicate ideas through music.

For many, this was a rare opportunity to experience a live orchestra, creating a memorable and impactful learning experience.
