As colleagues will be aware, our recently appointed Director of Research and Partnerships, Dr Julian Grenier, is working with UST to develop an evidence-informed approach across our primary, secondary, and all-through settings.
Julian has collaborated with senior leaders across the Trust to write a strategy paper outlining the vision and long-term objectives for this work. The strategy incorporates four key workstreams:
- A Trust-wide approach to professional development
- The development of research literacy
- Alliances: joining, contributing to, and leading the sector
- Working with universities
Within three months of launching the strategy, the leadership team at Cyril Jackson collaborated with the Director of Research and Partnerships and successfully submitted a paper to the Chartered College of Teaching. The paper, which details the school’s SEND provision, will be published in the summer edition of Impact.
Leaders across the primary and secondary phases have now chosen to focus on developing a Trust-wide approach to professional development. This workstream will be divided into four phases: explore, plan, deliver, and sustain.
Having agreed a roadmap for this work, phases one and two will take place during the summer term. During phase one, meetings will be held with each leadership team to gain an understanding of the current professional development offer and each school’s context. Leaders will have the opportunity to share practice and discuss how the offer may be enhanced.
Phase two will bring together leaders from each setting to participate in planning sessions and co-construct our Trust-wide principles for professional development.
Once phases three and four are completed in the autumn term, the revised offer will be published as part of UST’s compendiums. We look forward to sharing further updates in upcoming newsletters.
