RGTS Students Pitch at Parliament

Students from Royal Greenwich Trust School proudly represented their Business Department at the House of Commons as part of the Young Enterprise programme. The event, delivered in partnership with the Department for Business and Trade. It brings together sixth form students from across London to present their business ideas in a prestigious parliamentary setting.

Students had the opportunity to meet Blair McDougall, Minister for Small Business, who praised the creativity and energy shown by the young entrepreneurs. Representing their school, students presented two innovative ventures.

One being ‘Made with a Smile’ which focused on customised phone charms and keychains, demonstrating strong profit margins and effective use of market research.

Another one being ‘Muggle’ a personalised mug business, which impressed judges with its adaptability, as students reflected honestly on challenges and refined their approach in response to feedback.

Both teams confidently explained their business models, production costs and pricing strategies, showcasing their understanding of key business concepts. They also received valuable feedback from an expert panel, including Tim Campbell MBE, Steph McGovern and Priya Guha OBE.

Judges challenged students on areas such as scalability and competitive advantage, offering real world insight into enterprise and investment.

This experience highlighted the importance of enterprise education in action. Students developed confidence, communication skills and commercial awareness while applying their classroom learning in a real context. Pitching in Parliament and engaging with industry leaders provided a rare and valuable opportunity to experience the professional world first hand.

This initiative is a key reflection of our trusts mission to provide a transformational education, because it equips our students with the skills, confidence and real world experiences needed to succeed in future careers.
