Royal Greenwich Trust School Explore Queen Mary University of London

Year 12 students RGTS recently visited Queen Mary University of London for a bespoke taster day designed for students interested in social sciences and engineering. The visit provided an excellent opportunity for students to experience university life while developing a deeper understanding of higher education and future study pathways.

Throughout the day, students took part in engaging subject sessions that introduced them to new ideas and challenged them to apply their problem solving skills to more complex scenarios. These activities encouraged students to think critically, work collaboratively and explore topics beyond the classroom, helping them build confidence in tackling unfamiliar challenges.

A key part of the visit was a dedicated session on UCAS personal statements. Led by current university students, the workshop provided valuable guidance on what universities are looking for and how applicants can effectively present their skills, experiences and ambitions.

As university admissions continue to evolve, receiving the latest advice directly from undergraduates gave students an up to date and realistic insight into the application process.

Students also enjoyed a tour of the Queen Mary campus, where they explored the facilities and learned more about student life. Experiencing the campus first hand helped many students imagine themselves studying at university and encouraged them to think positively about their future aspirations.

We would like to thank Queen Mary University of London for hosting such an informative and engaging day. We greatly value this continued partnership and look forward to providing more opportunities like this for our students in the future.

This experience reflects our Trust’s mission of providing transformational education for all. By giving students access to expert guidance, university experiences and opportunities to develop their confidence and aspirations, we are helping to equip every young person with the knowledge, skills and ambition to succeed in higher education and beyond.
