We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Year 11 student Khalid Hussein, whose dedication and commitment have led to an exceptional cross country season.

Khalid’s journey began in Year 7, when a strong performance at a local borough athletics competition organised by St Paul’s Way inspired him to pursue running more seriously. He soon joined Victoria Park Harriers and developed a deep passion for the sport. Khalid reflected, “That race was where it all started for me. It gave me the confidence to take athletics further and believe in my potential.”

Over time, he has demonstrated remarkable focus and discipline, establishing himself among the top athletes in his age group nationally. With the support of his club and the school’s PE department, he has continued to develop both his physical ability and competitive mindset, representing London on multiple occasions.

His performance at the English Schools Cross Country Championship in Liverpool was particularly impressive, where he finished 12th and narrowly missed international selection.

Khalid said, “I was the highest placed athlete in the gold medal winning London team, which was a proud moment for me.”

Khalid has also represented Middlesex at the British National Inter County Championships in Nottingham, finishing 28th, and competed in the English National Cross Country Championships in Sedgefield, placing 24th. These consistent performances highlight his resilience and determination.

Khalid said, “I am really grateful for the support from my teachers, especially Mr Winter, as well as my family. They have helped me reach this level and continue to push me forward.”

Beyond results, Khalid is recognised for his exemplary behaviour, professionalism and positive attitude. He is a role model to younger pupils and contributed to his training group securing the Howard Williams Trophy, while also winning the U15/17 boys individual title.
