At University Schools Trust, we are committed to providing experiences that enrich learning beyond the classroom. Recently, pupils at St Paul’s Way Primary School were immersed in a magical Peter Pan workshop delivered by Perform, bringing creativity, movement and storytelling to life.

The session began with an exciting visit from Peter Pan himself, who invited pupils on a journey to Neverland. As “children who cannot go to school” in Neverland, pupils were encouraged to imagine who they might become perhaps a pirate, mermaid or another adventurous character. This instantly sparked curiosity and imaginative thinking.

To prepare for their journey, pupils warmed up with energetic movements, creating shapes such as stars and pencils, and engaging in fun physical activities.

They then learned signature actions for key characters including Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Nana and Captain Hook, testing their memory and focus through interactive games.

As the adventure unfolded, pupils worked together to find Captain Hook’s ship, the Jolly Roger, scrubbing decks, pulling ropes and scanning the horizon with imaginary telescopes. A highlight of the session was the “magic rocks,” where pupils used their creativity to decide the effects when sitting on them, from uncontrollable laughter to turning into bugs.

The workshop culminated in a treasure hunt in Captain Hook’s lair, where pupils demonstrated teamwork and quick thinking by freezing to avoid detection. The experience ended with a reflective moment as each child made a wish with Tinkerbell.
