As part of our commitment to broadening opportunities for young learners, students from St Paul’s Way Sixth Form recently attended an engaging Allied Health Professions workshop at the University of Greenwich. The session provided valuable insight into the wide range of healthcare careers available beyond medicine and dentistry.

Delivered in partnership with healthcare professionals and representatives from the University of Greenwich, the workshop introduced students to the important role that Allied Health Professionals play within the healthcare system. Students learned how AHPs contribute to improving patient outcomes, supporting rehabilitation and enhancing quality of life across a variety of settings.

The session highlighted the diverse career opportunities available within the sector, including roles in hospitals, community healthcare services, private practice and research. Students explored the wide range of specialisms within allied health and discovered how these professions allow individuals to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

A key focus of the workshop was the skills needed to succeed in these careers. Students considered the importance of communication, teamwork, empathy and problem solving, recognising how these qualities support effective relationships with patients and colleagues.

Representatives from the University of Greenwich also shared information about available courses, entry requirements, placement opportunities and professional registration pathways. This helped students develop a clearer understanding of the steps they can take after sixth form and the opportunities available within the healthcare sector.

The workshop increased students’ awareness of future pathways and encouraged them to think confidently about their ambitions.
