Year 8 students from St Paul’s Way Secondary recently visited UCL East to gain a greater understanding of university life and explore the opportunities available through higher education. The visit provided students with an engaging introduction to university study while encouraging them to think about their future ambitions and educational pathways.

Throughout the day, students explored the campus and experienced what it is like to study in a university environment. They visited a range of learning spaces and facilities, helping them develop a clearer understanding of student life and the many opportunities that higher education can provide.

Students also took part in a variety of interactive activities designed to introduce them to different subjects, courses and career pathways. These sessions encouraged students to think critically, ask thoughtful questions and consider how their interests today could shape their future opportunities.

By engaging with university staff and learning more about academic study, students gained valuable insight into the wide range of options available after school.

The visit also highlighted the importance of setting goals and planning for the future. Students were encouraged to reflect on their strengths, interests and ambitions while learning about the support available to help them achieve their aspirations.

For many, the experience made university feel more accessible and helped them see higher education as an achievable next step.
