The UST Apprentice Network gathered once again for its final session of the academic term, bringing apprentices from across the Trust together for an afternoon of collaboration, learning and shared professional growth.

The network plays an important role in our community, offering apprentices a dedicated space to develop new skills, take part in group training and build strong connections with peers.

It also provides an open forum where apprentices can raise challenges, share experiences and help the Trust understand how to strengthen and refine the apprentice programme in ways that may not have been visible at the outset.

This term’s closing session was led by our Data Controller, Joyce Siaw, who delivered an engaging and accessible introduction to the world of data. Joyce explored why data matters in education and in everyday life, how information shapes decision making and the steps we must take to keep data secure.

Apprentices learned about the software used across the Trust, the principles of responsible data handling and the essential role data plays in supporting effective practice.

It encouraged apprentices to think beyond their usual tasks and step into a new area of professional knowledge. By opening up this field, we are widening opportunities, building confidence and helping apprentices understand the value of data in shaping modern workplaces.

The UST Apprentice Network continues to reflect our commitment to transformational education for all, ensuring every apprentice is supported to grow, thrive and contribute meaningfully to our Trust community and their future careers.
