The University Schools Trust is delighted to celebrate the success of Menekse from St Paul’s Way Secondary School, whose work has been selected as a Highly Commended entry in this year’s First Story 100 Word Story Competition.

The First Story 100 Word Story Competition is an annual creative writing challenge for students in First Story partner schools.

It invites young writers to craft a complete narrative using exactly one hundred words, encouraging precision, imagination and confidence in their creative voice.

It is a powerful opportunity for students to explore storytelling in a focused and accessible way.

Menekse reflected on the experience, saying, “It can be really hard to find time to focus on creative writing, so I am really glad that First Story gave me that opportunity. I am proud of my work and that it has been recognised, and I am hoping it opens up more possibilities for my future.”

Across the Trust, we are incredibly proud of Menekse’s achievement. Her recognition highlights the importance of nurturing creativity and providing platforms where students can express themselves with confidence.
