Royal Greenwich Trust School Supports Year 11 Students and Families Ahead of GCSEs

Royal Greenwich Trust School, recently hosted a dedicated Year 11 revision support session to help students and their families prepare for the important GCSE examination period.

The event provided parents and carers with valuable opportunities to meet with heads of department and gain a deeper understanding of how to support their child’s learning across each GCSE subject. Families moved between different rooms to speak directly with subject leaders, discuss individual areas of study and explore practical strategies to help students prepare effectively for their examinations.

The sessions offered detailed guidance on the support available throughout this crucial stage of secondary education. Parents and carers were able to ask questions, receive subject specific advice and develop a clearer understanding of the steps they could take at home to encourage effective revision and independent learning.

A key focus of the event was helping families understand the school’s homework expectations, including how much homework students would receive and when it would be set. This information will help parents and carers establish consistent routines, monitor their child’s workload and ensure that revision remains organised and manageable alongside other commitments.

By bringing families and staff together, Royal Greenwich Trust School reinforced the importance of a strong partnership between home and school. Open communication and shared expectations can play a vital role in helping young people feel supported, build confidence and approach their GCSEs with greater focus and determination.

As a trust we recognise that preparing for examinations is a significant milestone for students and their families. By providing practical guidance, strengthening relationships with parents and carers, and ensuring students have the support they need to succeed, Royal Greenwich Trust School demonstrates its commitment to helping every learner fulfil their potential.

This initiative reflects the Trust’s mission of providing transformational education for all, ensuring every young person is supported, empowered and equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve their very best.
